David C. Petrone is an owner and Of Counsel at LPB Law Group, LLC, and the attorney responsible for the Pennsylvania legal content on this site. He has been admitted to the Pennsylvania bar since 1978.
Background
Before his ownership role at LPB Law Group, David served as Counsel to the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Northeast Region, advising on federal procurement, contract formation, claims, terminations and disputes for major construction and infrastructure projects. That work involved bid protests, contractor claims, and complex questions of risk allocation — who bore responsibility, under what terms, when something went wrong on a large and technically complicated project.
He later became the first and sole counsel and director for contracts and risk management at a privately held engineering company, overseeing public and private architect-engineer-construction contracts, teaming and joint-venture agreements, novations, and confidentiality arrangements.
The through-line across nearly five decades is the same analysis an injury claim turns on: how an organisation was actually structured, where responsibility sat, and what the documents say about who owed what to whom.

The engineering degree is not decoration. Causation arguments in premises, construction and vehicle cases frequently turn on whether a mechanism of injury is physically plausible, and that is an engineering question before it is a legal one.
