Why this page is so specific about admissions
A great many law firm websites list attorneys without saying where each is licensed, leaving readers to assume that everyone pictured can advise them. That assumption is often wrong, and in some states acting on it would be the unauthorised practice of law.

Every American bar publishes a public register, and each of the three admissions on this page can be confirmed against the issuing authority in a couple of minutes. What follows is where to look and what each record will tell you.

The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania holds the register. An attorney’s record shows the date of admission, the current licence status, the registered address and any public disciplinary history. This is the licence that governs every statement of Pennsylvania law on this site.

The New York State Unified Court System runs the Attorney Directory through the Office of Court Administration. It is searchable by name only — there is no lookup by registration number — and the record it returns gives the registration number, the year and judicial department of admission, and the current status. Admitted 23 June 2009.
The Unified Court System’s terms of use prohibit websites from linking directly into that directory, so it is named here rather than linked. It is reached from the Attorney Online Services section of nycourts.gov.
